The Wild Lime Cafe and Gallery, with its unique blend of great Queensland grown coffee, bush food inspired menu and quality art and craft has been a popular destination for travellers to the Flinders Ranges since its establishment in 2003 by Gold and Silversmith, Robyn Holtham. Robyn was able to successfully bring together her passions for the creative arts and flair for food in creating the special experience that is the Wild Lime. Now enjoying a devoted following of repeat visitors and delighted newcomers, from both within Australia as well as overseas, the Wild Lime is set to benefit from the enthusiastic attention and expertise of new proprietor, Sandra Sarantou.
German born Sandra began working in the tourism industry as a guide and representative in Turkey and Cyprus for a period of six years. She then returned to Germany to train as a travel agent and completed her degree in tourism in 1994. For her last seven years in Germany, Sandra was responsible for the leisure travel department in a leading travel agency catering to special groups and conventions.
In 2003 Sandra was registered as an Aussie specialist and travelled to Australia several times before finally settling in Adelaide in 2006. Combining heart and soul with her experience and interests, Sandra founded Australian Soul Tours and Events, a company that has achieved accreditation with ECO Tourism Australia, ROC (Respect our Culture) and is an accredited Tourism Business with ATAP. It was through bringing groups to the outback and herself discovering the atmosphere and the treats that the Wild Lime has become noted for, that Sandra and Robyn came to know one another and a natural alliance was formed.
Robyn will now move on to devote more time to her creative life, in particular her jewellery making, continuing to supply the Flinders Ranges outlets she has begun to stock as well as expanding further afield with new designs.
Sandra now takes over the running of the Wild Lime year round along side her established tour business with the able assistance of Paul Donohue, himself an accredited tour driver and multi skilled seasoned outback personality. In addition to the products previously available at the Wild Lime, short, informative local 4WD tours with commentary in English or German will now be on offer to travellers who would not normally be able to access the breathtaking scenic attractions in their own vehicle.
Large bus groups will be catered for as before. Bookings to be made well in advance with final numbers confirmed two weeks prior to the date of visit.
